Rhode Island has a proud education heritage, with some of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the USA.

Public schools include the University of Rhode Island (URI), Rhode Island College (RIC), and the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI). Private schools include Brown University (Ivy League), Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Providence College (PC), Bryant University and Johnson & Wales. 

Rhode Island universities are at the vanguard of promoting learning and exchange between China and the US. Both the University of Rhode Island, and Bryant University, have established Confucius Centers with Chinese partners to promote education in Chinese language and culture. Rhode Island has close to 350 public secondary schools, including 55 high schools, and over 180 private schools. RI is home to several prestigious private high schools, including Moses Brown, the Wheeler School, Providence Country Day, the  Lincoln School, Portsmouth Abbey and Saint Georges.
