In April Rhode Island International Group participated in the first ever Pearl River Delta SelectUSA Road Show in China. SelectUSA, a program of the US Department of Commerce,"was created at the federal level to showcase the United States as the world’s premier business location and to provide easy access to federal-level programs and services related to business investment." It has been less than a year since Providence switched to single-stream recycling, yet the city is already seeing immense and measurable benefits from the new system. Before September 2012, Providence residents were required to sort their recyclable materials into two different bins before it was collected by the city. Under this system, Providence’s recycling rate never topped 15%.
